It's over already?

Well I'm covered in ink and paint, so it must have been a good time! I'm so tired though. Donna wears me out. I have no idea how she maintains her creative pace.
I didn't get to take last nights' class because we sold out, but I made sure I got a seat in today's "Simple Pleasures" class!! I am so appreciative that Donna was willing to do this album as a class for us. Thank you :) I know it will be available online through Big Picture Scrapbooking, but having Donna in person to inspire you is no comparison.
I didn't get any pictures today cuz I left my phone at home - doh! Besides, I was too busy getting my major craft on. I'll upload some pics of my mini-album this week. I am really loving it. I chose a somewhat different color palette than the sample, but I love the effect of the distress inks and water on the canvas pages... So I tried a new color on each page. :) - (BTW: we have more of the 4x6 canvas albums and refill pages at the store for anyone who wants more.) And the flocked iron-ons were the bomb!! We'd had 'em in the store before, but this was the first time I got to use them... Ummm, they are so cool!! We sold out, but now I'm addicted, so I'll be ordering more. :p
Alright, hubby's wondering why I'm sitting in the hallway crouched over my phone, so guess I better pick my tired self up off the floor and go pretend to watch college football.

Musical chairs... Donna Downey style :)

Oh No She Din't!!! Yes she did... Donna just had these women get up from their seats, comfortably surrounded by their belongings, and swap seats. AND they had to continue crafting with the other person's stuff... OMG! Donna: "You will never feel freer creatively than you do now." Other people's toys are so much more fun. :) what a hoot. Donna is always so much fun!

Inspirational Journnal - SOLD OUT

Friday night's class is full, but there are some seats left in Saturday's classes.

*The class projects are at the store, so come by and check 'em out in person to see if it's something you'd like to do.  The classroom will not be open to spectators, so you will not be able to meet with Donna once the class has started Friday at 6pm... basically, COME EARLY ON FRIDAY.

mixed media/art journaling : workshop duration 5 hours

A hands on exploration of your inner artist as we work together creating your visual legacy. The inspiration journal has become the hallmark of my creative play and growth as an artist. This workshop promises to challenge you to look at yourself as a creative soul and will encourage artistic growth with each page you complete. Workshop includes a handmade inspiration journal (journal colors will be varied).

techniques include: painted backgrounds, "drippage", use of different mediums, image transfer, building in layers, dementional effects, and journaling techniques

  Saturday - Sept 25th 

9:00am LIFE'S ARTISTRY $75

mixed media scrapbook : workshop duration 3 hours

in this workshop you will learn techniques and tips for creating an eight page 8 x 10 mixed media scrapbook. The book is comprised of multi-surface and textured pages that may surprise you. The use of color, fabrics, papers, moments captured and artistic style art journaling make it unique and truly individualized to each student.

 

 

2:00pm SIMPLE PLEASURES $55

I saw this album at CHA last week, displayed at the PRIMA booth.  I fell in love with it and begged Bill (Donna's husband/manager) to convince Donna to do this as a class for us.  Trust me, you'll thank me!

Zoe and Rylea

Last night we took the girls to the Fort/Summerville high school football game... What a madhouse!! I can't believe they let that many people in there. It was standing room only including behind, beside and beneath the bleachers. There was no breeze and it was so muggy my elbows were sweating. Yuck!
It was a good game, better than we expected actually. The news only showed Summerville's td's, but Fort played well. They had the lead for the first half, had a td called back for a penalty, lost 28-21.
Besides the heat and the bad seats, we had a good time. We got out of the house, socialized and hung out with friends. Thanks to Matt and Jen for driving. Thanks to Mom for babysitting!!

Panthers 2010 team photo

Zane's in the B-league this year in Summerville (Sertoma 11-12yr olds). It's the first time he's not one of the bigger kids on the team. We're doing team pictures and then the Jamborie! It's an all day thing and then a whole 15 minutes of football. :)

Zoe's 1st commercial!

How cool? I finally got to see the promotional video that Zoe was selected to be in earlier this year. We were at a cheerleading competition and someone came over while I was finishing up her makeup. They asked her to join a few other kids and repeat some lines together. She did great! The video aired at the Worlds Competition in Orlando in April. Zoe's coach Stacy just texted me that it is finally up on youtube. Hope this link works.

Zoe's 1st JV football game

She did so great last night!! I am so proud of how hard she (and her whole team) has worked this season. This video is Zoe's stunt group doing a Prep-Double Down. She completes TWO full twists in the air!!!
...oh, and the scream at the end would be me. I forgot to stop recording before I hollered. :)

Croppin' old school style :)

I've been looking at these safari animal papers for a couple of days, and they just kept calling my name. Really, from the moment I saw the zebras, I knew I wanted to cut the pair out and pop them up off the page. So, while I was suppose to be working today, I decided to throw this sample page together instead!
Like I said, the zebras are cut out from a separate page and then adhered w/ foam squares. The title is cut using the Beary font w/ our Accucut machine in the crop room. I used a Black Copic to draw stripes across the white brads.
Then I showed the layout to Mom. She goes "wow that's adorable... Not your usual style." huh?!!!! Thanks Mom. Geesh. Oh sure, she meant that it was what I call "old school". It doesn't have any ink, ribbon or bling. She's right, my style isn't usually cutesy, but still... I had to laugh. :)
