Okay, I finally finished adding the majority of my CHA photos to the Summer 2008 album. Here are some of my favorite shots:

Here's Debbie doing a make-n-take at the Imaginisce booth and then winning a new SpellBinders' Wizard.  Wait until you see all the new Nestibilities coming!!  Debbie is going to have some extremely fantastic classes using these new tools.

Speaking of taking classes, I met Michelle Van Etten at the show.  She's a super-talented designer for Prima Marketing, and she's coming to THE PINK HOUSE!!  She'll be bringing some acrylic classes that are all to die for.  Be on the look out for those class dates in early September.

CHA photos

I fought it, and I fought it, and I fought it... but the dern internet finally won out.  I was able to upload most of my CHA pictures to a photo album on my blog, but it took nearly all day, and then I still didn't get to all of them.  SOOOOO... you can have a look at MOST of my pictures from last week by scrolling down my blog and clicking on the "CHA Summer 2008" album on the right hand side.  If you double click on a photo, then you can view it bigger, and there's also a "next" link that will bring up the next photo.  Please SCRAPLIFT as many of these layouts as you can possibly stand.  That's why I took all these pictures!

I'm Back :)

I made it safely back from Chicago.  My flight out to Atlanta was fine after the 45 minute delay, but the connector to Charleston was delayed 2.5 hours.  Luckily, Elise from Mt. Pleasant was on the same flight so we were able to chat for a couple of hours.  We compared notes, we laughed, we cried.  Finally, got home around 2am Monday morning.  I'm still tired, but I have so many great ideas that I'm reviltalized & re-energized.

I'll post CHA pictures later today-ish.

BIG THANKS to Mom, Shere & Kelsey for holding the store down.  It looks great... (and you know I was worried!)  Thank You to Debbie for coming along... you helped make my trip so much fun, and I can't wait to put you to work demonstrating all the new products & techniques.  Love you all!

skipping class

quickie from CHA...        made it to Chicago in one piece, an uneventful flight which is a fabulous thing.  Thursday was fast & furious.  Friday was fun.  Now it's Saturday and I'm starting to get irritable.  I just had to bail on a class.  I'm not normally a skippin' school kinda gal, but I signed up for a "Hybrid Scrapbooking Class".  What I sat thru was 45 minutes of a boring lecture on how to operate PhotoShop Elements 6.  It was suppose to be a 2 hour class, but that's 45 minutes I'll never get back!     So, I snuck out the back.  Good thing I was sitting in the last row - yes that means I was late getting to the class, but big surprise there!  Will be up late tonight finalizing all our orders just for you.  Hope you are all stopping by to see The Mom.  I'll be back at the store Tuesday.  I'll try to upload some photos later tonight.

INSPIRED

So it's Tuesday morning and I came to work kinda in a rush.  I've got 3 or 4 of my girls with me today (whoever jumped in the car as I was pulling away).  Zoe & Nicole opened the blinds & turned on all the lights for me, and I went straight to the kitchen/office... cranked up the radio... and grabbed some acrylic paint.  I splattered random colors over some ugly cardstock and started dry-brushing.  I love the result!  I had to name it "Inpired" of course.  I am sooooo totally into painting now thanks to Donna Downey.

Donna Downey - Round 2, Day 2

 Oh no-I didn't take very many pictures.  crud!  Guess I was totally busy setting 100 EYELETS!!  Here's my nearly finished mini-book.  I haven't decided which pictures I'm going to put in it yet, and I've only used 57 eyelets so far.

** Thank you so much to Robin for providing the GLORIA JEAN'S COFFEE.  It was totally yum & kept the place smelling wonderful. 

     Robin even left a bag for us here at The Pink House, so I'll be enjoying the caffenated aroma for at least a week.  :)  Feel free to stop in anytime for a cup, or if you're heading out to Northwoods Mall then you can pick up a smokin' hot latte right from GLORIA JEAN'S.

FYI:  We thought we had scored Donna for next May (National Scrapbook Day), but then discovered it was the weekend before her big INSPIRED event.  So, we've been shut down on that pipe dream.  But Donna does promise to be back soon with even more creative mixed media classes.  She's already got a new acrylic-ish album ready, and I'm hoping for some more painting projects.

Donna Downey - Round 2, Day 1

     

So Donna's first class was stellar as expected!  I had some journaling snafus, so my canvas didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped... but it's okay.

Here's a close-up of the book text transfer technique that's really cool.  I also used some of the KI die-cut flower paper, and I printed on a transparency then painted behind it.  (The transparencies were part of my journaling snafu!)

LOVE LOVE LOVE Donna's newest class.  Of course she just uploaded the samples to her website a week or so ago!  Guess we'll have to wait for her next visit.  :)

Debby Schuh!!

She’s an incredible crafter that teaches for CKU, designs for Anna Griffin, and has been featured in many national scrapbooking kits such as Scarlett Lime, Cocoa Daisy, & Jenny Bowlin. Debby’s from Buffalo, NY, and travels the country teaching classes for Creating Keepsakes University & local scrapbook stores like us. She’s been published in all the big name magazines (CK, Memory Makers, Paper Crafts & more). Debby’s even written a book called "Kids Scrapbooking…Easy as 1,2,3."   So, of course we have to have this scrappin’ star teach at The Pink House! Debby’s coming in August and bringing 2 awesome classes with her…

August 23rd - Saturday 10am

"A Lucky Life"  (2 hrs)

Believe it or not…you lead a Lucky life! Did you know Lucky means blessed, happy, good, and full of promise? Sometimes just taking a fresh look at life helps you realize how lucky you are! In this class we’ll make a beautiful mini album to record the good things in your life and tell the story behind your blessings. Using Jenni Bowlin bingo cards and rub-ons, Scenic Route and Creative Imaginations papers, and embellishments from Heidi Swapp (Advantus), My Mind’s Eye, American Crafts, 7gypsies, Hambly, and American Tag, we’ll make this unique clear cover twenty-two page album full of pockets and enclosures for lots of photos and journaling.
You should bring the following tools to class: 12" paper trimmer, scissors, ¼" hole punch or Crop A Dile, lots of tape runner adhesive (you will be adhering paper to the back of the bingo cards), pencil, ruler, stapler, glue dots, and burnishing tool for rub-ons (popsicle stick).

August 23rd - Saturday 2pm

"A Round & About Travel Book"  (2 hrs)

Are you looking for a great new album idea to showcase your photos and memorabilia from a favorite trip? I’ve taken the unique album I did for my trip to Germany and turned it into a class for you! In this class we’ll make an album with a combination of round and rectangular pages using an 8 ½"x 11" American Crafts Modern 3-ring album, a Heidi Swapp clock overlay used in a new way, and papers and stickers by 7gypsies, and more. The class kit is packed with product and includes all supplies except your tools. (The picture on the right is a picture of my Germany scrapbook. Your book will be unique with your photos and memorabilia.)
You should bring the following tools to class: 12" paper trimmer, scissors to cut chipboard, scissors to cut fabric, Crop A Dile or ¼" hole punch, adhesive, pencil, stapler, sandpaper or a sanding block, large eye needle, and if you want…an ink pad to age your project with. You can bring some 4x6" photos to begin your album, if you’d like!

 

Each class will be $55.00. Be sure to scope out her blog, check out her class pictures & descriptions, then give us a call to reserve your seat.  (Yeah, we've got Donna Downey this weekend and now another super star scrapper scheduled for August.  Are we just too cool or what?)
