Puppy appt.

Yesterday morning was our puppy's 9 week check up.  He weighs 15.5 lbs and is in good health.  :)  The vet said "Uh, you know that this dog is going to get really big, right?"  I smiled, we've had a rottweiler before and an Alaskan Malamute.  The malamute (like a really big husky) was even bigger.  We love big dogs.

House training has been going extremely well until just recently.  He's had an accident 2 days in a row.  :(  I think we may have gotten comfortable too soon w/ him and need to stay on top of his routine better.

Meet "Zeus"

Last weekend, Mom came home and told us all about this adorable puppy she almost brought home but didn't because she "thought we'd kill her."  Well, of course the kids (& especially Michael!) couldn't stop talking about getting a puppy.  I heard nothing for a whole week about how the kids need a pet... so on and so on.  Mom definitely opened Pandora's Box.

So, Saturday I was in Monck's Corner at a charity crop (Amer Cancer Society event at St. Roper Francis.)  Mike calls me around 5:00 and says he and the kids are coming out that way to go "look at puppies."  I got right on the phone to Mom and said...  "uhhhhh, Mom, I just wanted you to know that Mike's taking the kids to go look at puppies."  Let's just say that she thought it wasn't a good idea, but she wasn't going to be the one to tell her grandkids no.

I decided I better go with them, so Michael swung by the crop and picked me up.  We went to a breeder's home about 10 miles further out (okay, let's just say it was definitely in the boonies.)  Of course the puppies were as cute as could be!  Zane made buddies with the only male right away.  He's been needing some more testoterone in the house full of girls.

So now the Dulaney family has grown, and it's a boy!  We named him ZEUS.  Here are some shots that Zoe took:

It has been good so far getting him use to the house and our yard, and to Mom's dog Casey.  (She's a 10 yr old Shit-zu that wasn't socialized before we took over her house.)  They have been getting along fine, mostly ignoring each other.  The house training is going even better than expected - knock on wood.  Zeus gives a little whimper when he needs to go out, about once every hour.  The first night was little hard, like having a new born baby.  But we were able to stretch out it to 2-3 hours last night.  Thank God!

It's amazing that I don't feel more tired today after a weekend with hardly any sleep, but I guess it's the adrenaline of the new situation.  Just like having babies, my body somehow powers thru.  Now I can't promise how long this will last... normally I'm just a raving bee-yatch if I don't get much sleep.  To top it off, I've been working on the house a lot which has distracted me from eating.  Not such a bad thing, I know - but when I'm tired AND hungary, then it is seriously not a good situation.

But somehow, I'm in a good mood, dealing with the sleepiness and kinda glad I'm hungary.  Maybe I can stop the awful weight gain I've been on for a few months.  Most people will think I'm crazy for getting a puppy (and rightly so) but our lives are always enriched when we add something that brings our family together.  Zeus will be a lot of extra work and energy that I didn't have, but at least my kids (especially my son) will have a new friend to play with and love... maybe even fill in the gap that I've left this past year.  He's already motivated me to get up off my big lazy bum and do some of the Spring Cleaning I should have finished a month ago!

Charity Crop Sat. 4/19

Hi ladies!

If you're going to be in the Monck's Corner area tomorrow, then stop by and see me...  I'll have a booth at the 1st Annual "Croppin' For the Cure" sponsored by the American Red Cross.  We'll be at Roper St. Francis from 8am-8pm.  Well, this part of "we" is scheduled for 12-4pm.  I'm going to try to get there at 7am to set up and then stay into the afternoon, but it all depends on the hubby.  So, we'll see how it goes.  I'll be demo-ing the Wishblade at 2:00pm!  (Woohoo-yes, I finally got it going!)

Mom'll be holding down the fort at The Pink House for us, and Debbie's got a Cricut 101 Class at 4pm.  So come see us... you know where we'll be.  :)

My New Hair Cut

I've been needing a hair cut for months and have been putting it off and putting it off until I just couldn't take it any longer.   Of course Ronee beat me to it, and now I look like I've copied her... but really, I don't mind that perception.  She and I are so much alike, it's basically saying that I've copied myself.

So how much did I cut?  What's it look like?  Well, I chopped off a whole foot (12 inches).  It doesn't look like that much in the little pony tail, but I measured it.  FYI: I'm sending it to "Locks of Love".  http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html

So now my hair is much bouncier and feels much healthier.  I've cut down on my shower time thankfully, but it actually takes longer to blow dry now that I'm actually trying to put some style back in it.  I did keep it long enough for the good 'ol pony tail though.

Here are some pictures I took this morning.  It looks like I just rolled out of bed, but I swear I took a shower first.  Unfortunately, I couldn't remember how to use the auto timer, so you'll see me doing "the reach around" and using my reflection in the mirror.  What a dork!  I also gave in and put on my glasses so I could actually see what I was doing.  Brilliant, I tell ya!

After the first few shots, I realized that maybe I should put some make-up on.  Thank goodness too - what a difference a little bit of mascara makes.  geesh!  But no, I didn't remember to turn the flash back off.  Crap!  Once I took these lasts shots though, I was done.  The diva has left the room.

NKOTB - They're back!

My kids are out of school today, and it's my husband's day off from work... so we actually got to sleep in - woohoo!  Wouldn't you know it though, I wake up at 6:45am anyway.  The birds are chirping outside my window and my brain is going 90 miles a minute with all the things that we're planning for the store. 

The kids woke up at 7:00, so Mike and I got up.  He fed them breakfast and then I did dishes.  I still had a couple hours before I had to head into work so I decided to watch some TiVo.  I'm strolling through my list of shows... Make Me a SuperModel, Step It Up & Dance, Oprah, etc, and then Mike comes in and says "Hurry, turn it to NBC."  Uhhh, are you kidding me?  I'm about to find out who won Make Me a SuperModel!  Besides, I don't know what channel NBC is anyway.  So Mike says, hurry-channel 3.  I turn on the Today Show and guess who is on there? ....

I was in the 9th grade when I had the New Kids tape cassette, and now they're saying that was 19 years ago.  Are you kidding me?  There's no way!  I was smiling so big watching these guys (pushing 40 mind you!) together on TV this morning.  So cheesey, I know, but I couldn't help it.  I was blushing in front of my husband.

Well, it's true.  NKOTB are back together, all 5 original members... Donnie, Jordan, John, Joey & the other guy...  Hangin' Tough!

Cricut 101 - Saturday, April 19th 4:00pm $15 - This class is for those of you who have no idea what to do with your new electronic machine.  Come learn how to correctly load/unload your blades & cartridges, actually use some of those "extra" buttons, and tons more.  Be sure to bring your machine, mat, cartridges, scrap paper & your list of questions.

Intermediate

Baby Bug - Tuesday, April 15th 6:00pm $20 - Okay, so you know how the basics but are wanting to learn how to do more complex creations.  Join us Tuesday night with your Baby Cricut (the smaller of the two machines.)

Expressions - Sunday, April 20th 1:00pm $20 - This class is for Cricut Expressions owners who have already taken their machine out of the box, are comfortable with how it operates, and are looking to find ways to maximize it's potential.

Advanced

Cricut Advanced - Sunday, April 20th 4:00pm $25 - So you think you're a pro?  Take your Cricut creations to the next level.  Learn about the Design Studio software and create a one-of-a-kind personalized name album.
