The Dulaney's had a great Easter weekend.
On Friday, we went to the movies... "Horton Hears a Who." I brought along my camera and took pictures of everything. Mike and the kids were wondering why I was acting like I'd never been to a movie theater before, but I was just in the mood to take pictures (& more importantly - scrapbook them!)
Any idea how much it costs us to go to the movies? ... Eighty Dollars! That's $80.00! It's $30 for us to get matinee tickets and $50 for popcorn and cokes. We get the kids their own snack meals, and Mike & I get the largest bucket (trough, really!) of popcorn, 2 enormous cokes and twizzlers & goobers. Gotta have our junk food, it's our thing.
Once the movie starts, the kids think I'm done taking pictures... well, I wasn't. heeeheee. I turned off the flash and tried to take some pictures inside the theater. A couple came out ok, but then I changed a setting and didn't realize that the flash was automatically re-set. oooops!! A big 'ol flash went off during the movie and of course everyone turned and look at me. So, thats when I put the camera away. :)
We spent all day Saturday shopping for new Easter outfits. Zane picked out a cool mint green button up shirt, so I decided to coordinate all the girls' dresses with that color in mind. Got all the clothes from Sears at 50% off, then they all got matching shoes from Payless and hats & baskets from the Dollar Store. We had lunch at the food court which we don't do very often. With all those options, we usually wind up getting food from at least 4 different places. But they all behaved, and we had a good time together.
We didn't color real eggs this year. Since I pretty much waited until the last minute, I ruled out the whole boiling & cooling off process and went straight to the decorating... I bought plastic eggs, stickers, & colored glue and let them have at it! They still had fun, and there were no hard boiled eggs lingering around the house or the yard for days later.
The Easter Bunny also waited until the very last second to shop for the baskets of goodies, so like the insane bunny that she is, Mrs. Easter was at Walmart at 10:00 Saturday night. You'd have thought it was Christmas with as long as those lines were! Zoe and I lucked out though... (yeah, the bunny's got to have a helper-even at 12 years old she's pretty awesome to have around) we started looking around to decided which of the lines to get in when a manager opened another register. We so ran to get to it before anyone else! whew! That saved us at least an hour, but we wound up forgetting the darn candy!! Oh well, what's a bunny to do?
On Sunday morning, Zane was instrumental in keeping the girls relatively quiet until I got up. They are really good about not diving into their baskets before I get out of bed, even on Christmas morning they wait. Angels aren't they? yeah... right before they turn into little devils! But I love 'em. The kids' got to their baskets and didn't say a word about there not being any candy. Whew, no drama - Thanks God!
Well, I was still exhausted from the day before, so I had a bit of a melt down getting all the kids ready to go. But again BIG THANKS TO GOD cause Mom was there to help me! We went over to Shelley's house for the egg hunt and had hot dogs & hamburgers for lunch. The kids had a great time. Ate lots of candy, played in all the little pop-up houses, but I think they may have enjoyed the pinata the best. Should I be worried that my kids liked demolishing a defenseless paper decoration and bragged about who hit it the hardest? hmmmm....
Then one of Shelley's neighbors brought out their new Big Boy toy... a small cylinder motorcycle! So, of course I had to take a ride! Here's me in my dress & boots like the Biker Mama that I am... just ridiculous!
After the hunt, the pinata and the motorcycle, we headed over to The Pink House cause that's where Mom was hangin' out. We got a couple photos, of course.
Then we went back to our house, changed clothes and grabbed the new Easter toys. The Bunny brought each of the kids new kites, a couple jump ropes and a frisbee. We all piled back in the car and went to the park for an hour or so. The wind was perfect! They had their kites sooooo high. I couldn't believe it. Bella was hilarious... she must have run non-stop the whole time, her little legs just a pumpin' a million miles an hour. :)
They had such a good time. Then we went back home and the kids played at the kitchen table with all the new playdoh stuff.
It was a very blessed weekend.
